JOVAN MALJOKOVIC BALKAN SALSA BAND feat. ANA SOFRENOVIC

Jovan Maljoković, a saxophonist, composer, and arranger, is one of the most productive artists in the history of Serbian jazz. After his stay in Western Europe, Scandinavia and USSR, he founded bands of various formats, as well as worked with many jazz and rock stars (Branislav Lala Kovačev, Zdravko Čolić, Goran Bregović…). He is especially interested in combining jazz with the Balkan folklore and Cuban music. Jovan played with his ensemble in Cuba, Germany (Rottweil Jazz Festival), France (Django Reinhardt International Jazz Festival), Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland (Montreux Jazz Festival) and Greece (Olympic Games 2004). His first album “Krčma Džerima” was released in 1985. “Korak do sna” (2012) is his tenth and latest album. Maljoković is now finding new inspirational challenges in combining pop and film music (with actress and singer Ana Sofrenović). He is also one of the founders, as well as the artistic director of the YU Jazz Fest held in Valjevo.
