Seemingly without any effort and in a variety of formations, trumpeter Lorenz Raab switches from nerve-wracking riffs to soothing melodies. Most of his polyvalent tunes fuse elements of cool jazz, funk, and acoustic drum ’n’ bass. Raab takes us on an invigorating journey from feverish dreams to ecstasy, from jittery desperation to silent hope. French Michel Godard releases the tuba blindfold from its reputation of sluggishness and gives a deep elastic base to the music. The Swiss Lucas Niggli is like a „Jack of all trades“ on the drums. He drives the band with a light-handed, cheeky flow to his compulsive grooves. The Norwegian Eirik Hegdal is perfectly cast in the stream of the tempo-sharp events. His fresh saxophone lines cross heavily, roughly and in wise sensitivity with the imaginative shine of Lorenz Raab’s trumpet.
