Ori Dakari1

Ori Dakari grew up in Kfar-Saba, Israel, where he started to play the guitar at the age of 12. At the age of 18 he was acknowledged by the Israeli Ministry of culture and the Israeli army an “Outstanding Musician”. He served his army duty as a guitar player. In 2004, Ori received a special scholarship and merit award from the famous Berklee College of Music in Boston. He moved to the US and began study with jazz masters like Joe Lovano, Hal Crook, Mark Whitefield and others. In 2007 Ori had moved to New York and after a few years he relocated back to Israel, where he set his home base for his frequent shows around the world (US, Canada, Brazil, Russia, Lithuania, Thailand…). Ori’s music is deeply rooted in Israeli, East European, Yemenite and North-African music: it combines the jazz tradition, the free spirit music and the strong connection with the sounds of his homeland. „Entrances“, his debut CD as a leader, with all original compositions, was released in 2009 on famous John Zorn’s label, Tzadik Records.
